Bats explode, Eagles sweep Walkerville, 17-2 and 20-8

The Marion baseball team made easy work of Walkerville on Wednesday, May 22. The Eagles, battling the Wildcats in a West Michigan ‘D’ battle picked up a pair of home wins by scores of 17-2 and 20-8.

In game one, the winning pitcher was Jon Stahl. He gave up two runs, one earned on two hits and four strikeouts.

Chase Seeley had three hits and three RBI, Billy Jenema had four hits, Thomas Jenema and Stahl had two hits apiece, Brandon Stewart had two hits and our RBI and Keegan Baldwin, Riley Moggo and Alex Sutten had one hit each.

Game two saw Stewart get the win. He pitched five innings and gave up eight runs, five earned on nine strikeouts and one walk.

Billy Jenema had three hits, including a home run and five RBI, Colton Hammer and Blaine Faulman had two hits and two RBI each, Ryder Hall, Stahl, Sutten, Stewart and Thomas Jenema had two hist apiece with Ty Baker adding one hit as well. In total the Eagles had 21 hits in the contest.
“We have been improving, but can’t get satisfied,” head coach Chad Grundy said.

Marion hosts districts on Saturday, opening with Manistee Catholic Central.
