Lady Eagles improve to 11-5

Pitching, hitting, defense. The Eagles were exceptional in all three facets of the game on Monday, shutting down Brethren 12-0 and 10-0 to sweep the doubleheader.

Rylie Richards led the way in game one with a long home run. Richards was then intentionally walked the rest of the evening. Aspen Lagrow added a triple and four RBIs, while Teagan Cox, Riley Kischnick, and Nicolette Maddox all added doubles.

Payton Raymond got the win on the mound for the Eagles, throwing a complete game shutout. Raymond finished with 10 strikeouts and three walks in six innings of work.

The Eagles took game one 12-0.

“We played error-free defense in both games tonight,” said Marion coach Ryan Raymond. “We had good pitching and catching. We also had every player get on the field tonight.”

In the 10-0 game two victory, the Eagles were led at the plate by Cox, Lagrow, and Jersey Scott. Cox finished with a triple, double and two RBIs, while Lagrow went 3-3 with a double and three RBIs. Scott added two hits and two RBIs. Kischnick added a hit and two RBIs.

Hayle Miller got the complete game shutout in game two, striking out five, while only allowing one walk.

The Eagles (11-5) host Mason County Eastern on Thursday.
