MARION — Marion’s Board of Education met on May 7 for a special meeting to deal with various items.

Two of the members had attended a marketing meeting. It was noted many items were discussed including day care and ways to bring students back to the district.

Superintendent Chris Arrington reported he had contacted Traverse City Glass on window replacement at the high school. The company is expected to provide Arrington with a quote.

The board received a report on quotes for resurfacing the track. Board members were told the school’s share would be approximately $50,000.
It was reported Arrington has not received an official proposal yet on Dean’s Transportation. All drivers but one have applied.

It was reported Josh Hayes and Dylan Zeilinger are putting together a plan to replace/update existing technology.

On the issue of transportation director lay-off, it was reported Arrington is working with the school attorney to streamline the lay-off process correctly.
