McBain softball sweeps Pine River

The McBain softball team had the winning touch in both of its home games Tuesday night. The Lady Ramblers were hosting Pine River in a Highland Conference twinbill and claimed a pair of victories, 5-0 and 14-12.

Mckenna Gilde got the win in game one, as she gave up just one hit and she struck out 10 batters.

Paige Vandenbos had a key RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to get the McBain offense started.

Gilde, Vandenbos, Mya Eisenga and Mikayla Pluger had multiple this in the game, including a four-for-four performance by Gilde.

Game two saw Pluger get the win. She pitched all seven innings and gave up 12 runs on 12 hits and three strikeouts.

Gracie Brunink, Gilde, Vandenbos, Isabella Gandolfi, Emma Boonstra, Kayda Cotter, Alyssa Bode and Pluger had multiple hits in the game, including doubles by Boonstra and Brunink and Gandofli had a triple. Gilde also had four hits.

On Thursday, May 2, the Ramblers played to a split at non-league Mesick. The Ramblers claimed an 11-8 win in game one while the Bulldogs rallied for an 11-8 victory in the nightcap.

Gilde was credited with the win in game one, she gave up three earned runs on nine hits, 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Vandenbos led the offense with a double, three singles and three RBI, Gandolfi had a home run and five RBI, Megan Taylor had there hits, Boonstra had an RBI triple and Gilde and Brunink had a hit and RBI apiece
McBain plays in a tournament at Roscommon on Saturday, heads to Lake City on Tuesday and travels to Marion on Thursday.
