McBain track claims dual wins

Both the McBain boys and girls track and field teams capped off the dual portion of the Highland Conference schedule unbeaten on Tuesday. The Ramblers were hosting Manton, with the boys winning 106-57 and the girls claiming a 106.5-55.5 victory.

For the boys, Keegan O’Malley won the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:06.74 and 4:38.91, Daniel Quist claimed a win in both hurdles events, timing out at 17.60 and 46.98. Logan Rodenbaugh won the 200 meter dash at 24.61 and Ethan Barton claimed victory in the 400, crossing at 54.26 and McBain also won each relay event. . Chase Pylkas ran a 10:37.33 to win the 3200, Garrett VerBerkmoes won the high jump at 5-6 and Jesse Sikkema won the pole vault with 10-0.

The Lady Ramblers saw Klaudia O’Malley win the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:01.7 and she won the 1600 with a run of 5:26.95. Maggie O’Malley won the 3200 thanks to a run of 12:48.72, Kayla Bosscher won the 200 meter dash at 30.14, Ashley Schierbeek won the 800 at 2:36.34 and Olyvia Nederhood won the 100 meter dash at 14.32. Mason Brown added a win in the high jump at 4-8 and Emma Schierbeek won the long jump at 14-4.

The Highland championship meet is Tuesday in Lake City.
