The Marion Village Council hired a new Veterans Memorial campground supervisor, Kay VanCott, and a new treasurer, Sara Brunink, at its meeting on Monday.

“We also set some of our road programs for the summer,” council president Don Gillmore said. “We’re continuing to do water checks for lead stuff in the pipes.”

The roadwork deals with Pickard Street from Main Street to First Street.
Gillmore said there were nine applicants for campground supervisor and 11 for treasurer. Flora Grundy and Gillmore, who are on the personnel committee, interviewed the candidates.

Gillmore also announced the village has the final figures for replacement of the spillways at the millpond. It’s around $181,000.

“We have so far raised about $97,000,” Gillmore said. “The committee will do other raffles during the summer. We hope to do the project yet this fall.”
