Waste collection set

LAKE CITY — The Missaukee County Household Hazardous Waste Collections event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Missaukee County Road Commission, located one mile north of Lake City on M-66.

The event is for people who live or own property in the county. Household hazardous waste is defined as batteries, chemicals, oil-based paint, etc. Tires up to 10 free for Missaukee County nonbusiness owners only and an additional are $2 each. There can be no oversized tires. No latex paint will be accepted. The event will include electronics including computers, printers, copies, scanners and cellphones; televisions and monitors are $5 apiece. Mattress and boxsprings are $5 apiece.

There can also be used mascara wands, pet items including bedding for Missaukee County Human Society. There’s on-site paper shredding. There will also be household items with a clothing for friends ministry.
There will be a second tire collection on Aug. 24 at the Missaukee County Recycling Center with up to 10 free per household and $2 additional. But truck or oversized tires will not be accepted.
