O’Malleys lead Ramblers at track finals

All three area schools sent athletes to the MHSAA track and field state finals on Saturday. McBain had the most representatives in division three, held at Jenison High School .

The Lady ramblers had Klaudia O’Malley take sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.93 and she was sixth in the 1600 at 5:07.30. Ashley Schierbeek was also 11th in the 800 in a time of 2:25.51. Nike Waeljegaard had a strong second place finish in the long jump, with a leap of 16-10. Shew as also 14th in the 100 meter dash, timing out at 13.23.

The 4×800 relay team of Schierbeek, Brianna EIsenga, Maggie O’Malley and Klaudia O’Malley was sixth place in a time of 9:54.30 with the same four runners taking 13th in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:13.94.

The McBain boys had Keegan O’Malley take fifth in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, running times of 4:23.67 and 9:43.60. Daniel Quist was 22nd in the 300 hurdles at 45.06 and Kaiden McGillis was 16th in the high jump at 6-01.00. The Ramblers also had a third place 4×800 relay team of O’Malley, Connor Murphy, Grayson VerBerkmoes and Ethan Barton, as they ran a time of 8:13.07.

The division four state finals meet was held at Hudsonville-Baldwin Middle School. The Marion boys had Ryder Hall take eighth in the long jump at 20-05.5 and the 4×400 relay team of Treigh Switalski, Brandon Stewart, Alex Sutton and Hall was 22nd in a time of 3:50.66.

The Lady Eagles had Nicolette Maddox take 18th in the discus with a throw of 91-04 and Isabell Bontekoe was 26th in the 100 hurdles at 19.47.

McBain Northern Michigan Christian had Ally Sigafoose take 21st in the discus at 87-10 and the 4×800 relay team of Anna Lanser, Sydney Hart, Ally Krik and Sigafoose was 13th in a time of 10:58.40.
