The Marion Village Council, at Monday’s monthly meeting, reported donations from the millpond project finance committee donations have topped $100,000.

“That’s really good news to us,” Gillmore said. “The project is going to go forward, no matter what now. We have the rest of the year (to raise the rest) to work on that. We’re hoping construction starts in August.”

The contracts are ready to be signed, he added.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the council approved the audit from last year and paid the bill, Gillmore said.

“(Veterans Park) is doing really good this year and is ahead of last year in rentals,” Gillmore said.

At a previous meeting, the council noted all garbage and refuse containers, except for commercially acceptable dumpsters, shall be placed at the street curbside for pick up garbage and/or containers shall be left no sooner than 4 p.m. on the day prior to pick up. All containers must be removed from the curbside by 4 p.m. the day after pick up, it was added.

Other motions previously approved included spending $4,250 on the bathroom floors in the old bathroom at the park; to hire Joe’s Tree Service at $4,000 to remove trees at the park and to spend up to $10,000 on crack seal for streets.
