State police troopers last week located a missing 16-year-old autistic boy and returned him to his family.

According to media reports, the Mount Pleasant State Police post responded to the report of an autistic juvenile missing the morning of June 26, and were informed by family members he might be heading to Muskegon County.

There were also reports the missing boy was observed in the Big Rapids area, but it wasn’t known in which direction he was traveling. He had made efforts to not disclose his location and realized there was a search for him, according to reports.

It was further reported by local media the boy was located, with assistance of troopers from the Rockford State police post, on June 27 in Muskegon and was safe, and in good health, and was taken back to his family.

The state police acknowledged the cooperation of the media and citizens with information contributing to the return of the boy to his family.
