Clare County’s Williams named County sheriff

REED CITY — Edward Williams has been appointed new sheriff for Osceola County.

He was selected last week to replace Justin Halladay, who has been appointed to be the county’s new director of Commission on Aging.
Williams will start his new position on Sept. 8. He is currently with the Clare County Sheriff’s Deprtment and a command sergeant major in the Michigan Army National Guard.

According to published reports, Williams, an Osceola County native, was in a list of applicants, narrowed down to three candidates and selected by the committee.

The committee consisted of Probate Court Judge Tyler Thompson, Prosecuter Anthoy Badovinac and Clerk Karen Bluhm.

The office of sheriff will be on the 2020 election ballot. Reports are that Williams intends to run for the spot.
