Donald Stephen Jeffery

Donald Stephen Jeffery, age 89 of Lake, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the MidMichigan Medical Center of Midland.  On February 2, 1930, Don, known to family and friends as “Jeff”, was born the son of Stephen and Elsie (Bryant) Jeffery in Highland Park, MI.  He was united in marriage to Sandra Howden in Clare, MI on March 6, 1993.

Shortly after his graduation from Redford High School, Don enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country in Korea during the War. After his honorable discharge, Don began his long career as a salesman, having worked as a representative for London Fog, Robert Reid, and J.L. Hudson’s, among others.  Those that knew Don well, knew that when he pursued a project or passion, he went “all in”.  Some of those passions included golf, sailing (especially on Eight Point Lake), Bass fishing, bird hunting with his champion English Setters, U of M Wolverine Football, and serving his community through Kiwanis and ELKS.  Don will be greatly missed by his family and close community.

Don is survived by his wife Sandra of Lake, and his children Tim (Jaclyn Jirasek) Jeffery of Howell, Dawn (Malcolm) Irwin of Cadillac, Deanna (Dub) Toddy of Fowlerville, Linda (David) Miner of Fowlerville,and Heather (Michael) Lucas of Howell.  Other survivors include his grandchildren Michelle, Todd, Elaine, Lindsey, and Amy, his great-grandchildren Jaelynn, Charlee, Allison, and John, his sister Grace Ryan of Plymouth, and his first wife Ruth Jeffery of Howell.  Don was predeceased by his son Scott, his granddaughter Jessica, and his parents Stephen and Elsie.

A memorial service in honor of Don will take place on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Clare Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Fall officiating.  Friends may visit with the Jeffery family at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. to the time of service at 1:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions in honor of Don may be directed to either the Clare Church of the Nazarene or the Garfield Township Fire Department.  For those unable to attend, on-line condolences may be shared at
