The warm weather didn’t slow down the Marion cross country team on Saturday. The Eagles, running at Spring Hill for the Evart Invitational, was able to get their girls team to take 12th place out of 12 teams, though the boys didn’t have enough to field a team score.

“While it was warm our kids did a pretty good job of preparing for and responding to the warm weather,” head coach Jason Keeler said. “The importance of preparing both mentally and physically to whatever race conditions might present on the day of the race is an important lesson that we are still learning. We continue to show growth and I think are getting closer to seeing what we are capable of as individuals and as a team. While we were short of a full team in most race divisions, our varsity girls competed well… just one spot out of earning a trophy.”

The girls had Sara England finish 24th in a personal best time of 27:00, Alexis Salisbury was 30th in a time of 27:36, Chloe Philo placed 35th in a season best time of 27:56, Elizabeth Fouch was 38th thanks to a personal best time of 28:17, Nolah Grundy placed 45th by crossing in a time of 29:57, Andrea Weaver timed out at 30:39 and was 49th, Selena Quintero was 54th at a personal best time of 31:25, Riley Kischnick ran a 32:02 and was 58th and Lisah Buchanan was in with a personal best time of 33:42 and placed 64th.

The boys had Aiden Timko, Jordan Wood and Eric Williams compete, placing 56th, 57th and 60th in times of 24:50, 24:51 and 25:39.

Marion hosted a conference meet on Wednesday
and is in Scottville on
Tuesday.
