LAKE CITY — Jessica Nielsen, Missaukee County Clerk/Register, went over a request for several board appointments including Board of County Canvassers, Land Bank Authority and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Social Services Board (DHHS), and Veterans Affairs Board during the finance committee meeting on Oct. 10.

Nielsen also during the meeting said a PA116 application from B&L Real Estate LLC, has been approved by the Equalization Department and now needs to be approved by the Planning Commission and Soil Conservation District.

County administrator Precia Garland went over a proposed resolution supporting House Bills 4937-4938 and Senate Bills 504-505.

These bills would mean four-year county commissioner terms, rather than the current two-year terms, and bring the positions in line with other county elected officials. This, Garland said, would lighten the burden on election operations. If the bills are passed, they would be effective with the 2022 November election.

Garland reviewed a proposed revision to the fee schedule in Policy F-18400 Revenue and Fee Schedule Policy. A recent legislation change now dictates how parcels are split. The county treasurer is now required to issue a certificate on any land division, that certifies all property taxes and special assessments on the parcel being split are paid current through the last five years. The fee for the certificate is $5 and it needs to be added to the county’s fee schedule.
