The McBain cross country teams put the finishing touches on their seasons Saturday, as they took part in the state championship race at Michigan International Speedway. The Lady Ramblers had qualified as a team and were able to come in 11th place out of 27 teams in attendance.

“Our girls team ran with a lot of heart, I could not be prouder of the effort they put out there,” coach Tasha O’Malley said. “It has been an extreme honor to coach this group of young ladies this year. Our seniors will be missed.”

Leading the way was Maggie O’Malley in 32nd place in a time of 19:59, Regan Hill placed 52nd by clocking a 20:26, Reese Ensing crossed the line 63rd at 20:34, with a time of 20:52 was Brianna Eisenga in 86th place, Megan Taylor finished 162nd in a time of 22:08, McKenna Gilde placed 178th at 22:28 and Couper Agema finished off 199th, timing out at 23:01.
For the boys, Connor Murphy had qualified as an individual. Murphy finished his junior season with a 44th place finish out of 250 runners and had a time of 17:05.

“Connor ran a very strong race,” O’Malley said. “The conditions of the course and the pack of runners he had to navigate around left him with some bumps and bruises. We are extremely proud of how he ran. He had a fantastic season.”

Division 4

McBain Northern Michigan had the lone area representative in the division four race. Sophomore Jonas Lanser was able to run a time of 18:32, coming in 117th place out of a field of 252 other runners.
