The Osceola County Board of Commissioners, at its meeting last week, made two key county appointments.

The county board appointed Rick Johnson to the planning commission and Dora Hansen to the Community Mental Health, Central Michigan.

The board approved the purchase of 18 bullet proof vests for $13,230 with partial grant funding.

The board OKed the Commission on Aging Evart location snow removal agreement.

The board approved the sale of COA vehicle of a 2005 Ford Expedition 4×4 with minimum bid of $2,000 and a 2006 Ford Freestar with a minimum bid of $500.

The board sold the community corrections trailer with a minimum bid of $200.

The board approved the resolution in support for four-year commissioner terms and sent copies to Michigan Association of counties and county legislators.

Other county commissioners have also approved this resolution.

“When you become a new commissioner, it kind of takes a year to get your feet wet,” commissioner Roger Elkins of Evart said.

The board voted to waive the Conflict of Interest policy and award the snow plowing bid for Marion EMS to Williams Middle Branch Farms LLC for $65 per push.
