EVART — It’s holiday season and winter-time. With that in mind, the Evart Police Department has issued several reminder to residents about keeping safe and being cautious.

The Evart Police Department reminds residents to keep your doors and windows secured when they are not at home. Robberies and burglaries increase over 20 percent during the holiday season. Motorists should allow extra travel time during poor weather and don’t travel faster than conditions allow.

Motorists also need to clear all ice and snow from their windows, headlights and tail lights before driving in ice and snow conditions.
Police also remind residents it is their responsibility as a business owner, homeowner or tenant to keep the sidewalk clear of snow and ice.

The winter parking ordinance from Nov. 1 to April 1 means there’s no parking on any street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Vehicles parked on any city street during these hours may be impounded by the Police. But the city points out this does not apply to the north side of 6th Street between Main Street and River Street.

The Evart Police Department lobby is not open from now to Jan. 2, but officers are still on duty and residents can call Central Dispatch at (231) 832-3255. For emergencies call 911.
