Tom Jared has been president of the Marion Rod & Gun Club, which has had many activities lately and has a few more coming up.
The five stand shotgun shoots took place in January in a heated and lighted facility.

It lasts four weeks with two options: one on Thursday evenings and the other on Sunday afternoons. Winners were Kaci Clark in women’s division and Wyatt Sikkema in the youth division, plus Les Housler, Tom Anderson, Doug Kinkema, Tim Szewczuk and Rick Nelson in the top open division.

For more information, contact Kinkema on the Ironman shoot and 5 stand league at (231) 590-3366 or Tom Jared at (231) 409-1366.

“Right now, we’re continuing to shoot the five stand,” Jared said. “This summer, on Saturday May 16, we have the Highland Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse, sporting clays shoot. It’s been well attended in the past and we’re looking forward to it this year. It’s a 50-target.

“On June 30, we have the Ebel’s smalltown jerky small gauge ironman. There will be skeet, trap, five stand and sporting clays. It’s 125 targets. On July 25, there’s a Dr. Wickens side by side shoot, 50 targets. We have the third annual Ironman on Sept. 12. This is skeet, trap, five stand, sporting clays, and there’s 125 targets there.”

Larry Visser can be contacted on the ruffed grouse shoot at (231) 878-9599; Larry Laxton on the small gauge ironman at (231) 468-1283 and Wickens on the side-by-side shoots at (231) 829-4017.
