The Marion PRESS is celebrating its 125th birthday this year. It’s hard to imagine a business having survived that long, but The PRESS has only missed publishing a few issues during that time span.
Mike Wilcox, owner of The Clare County REVIEW, purchased The PRESS from Jennifer Gray in late 2012. Since then he has invested money and time improving the size, circulation and editorial content of the weekly newspaper. The office is located at 301 E. Mill St., in the Knaggs Insurance building.
He is joined by office manager Carol Cope, who pretty much handles all day-to-day activities at The PRESS including ad sales. In addition to advertising, circulation and office duties, Cope writes a weekly column.
Other writers include Rosemary Horvath, Marhea Pease and local historian Julie Traynor. Ben Murphy writes sports and Roger Hagerman is a contributing photographer. Sherry Landon and Amber Howe are responsible for producing the graphics and layout for the printed version and this website.
The PRESS is a paid circulation newspaper, meaning readers must pay $29 in town or $35 out of county to get the printed version of the newspaper. The newspaper coverage area includes Marion, McBain and Evart.
